A Radical Change in the Education Sector
Big changes are coming to the education sector. Studies will start in a new way from 2022. In the light of this decision, hints have been given as to what may change at the primary and secondary levels. For the readers of Bangladesh Journal, the changes that may come in education are highlighted. It is known that Madhyami has no department. Besides, the higher secondary also does not have humanities, science, and commerce departments. Students will study in class XI-XII without division of departments. The proposal has been made in the National Curriculum Outline of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB). If this is implemented, the subject of choice for admission in higher education is open to the aspirants. As a result, those concerned think that admission to the university will be easier. The five steps mentioned in the outline are pre-primary, primary, secondary, higher secondary, and higher education. In addition, according to the proposed curriculum, secondary students will study all kinds of subjects up to the tenth class. There will be no science, business education, and humanities departments in this level curriculum. In the outline, 25 percent of the total learning time will be allocated for the required subjects in classes XI and XII. And 75 percent of the total learning time will be allocated for the three elective subjects. In addition, for an optional practical subject, the concerned educational institution will allocate separate time in its own management. In this regard, NCTB member (curriculum) Professor. Mashiuzzaman said, "There will be no division in science, commerce, and humanities in class XI-XII. However, students will be able to read the subjects. Groups will not be marked as before. Students will be able to choose any of the elective and optional subjects later with the required three subjects. The path will be open to the subjects of science, business, or humanities. Students can also choose subjects for the purpose of entering higher education. Students will take professional preparation by acquiring knowledge and skills in specialized fields in higher secondary and beyond.
